FOR
GROWTH

As one of the UK’s best-known door manufacturers, Hurst Doors already had strong brand recognition and a solid product offering across composite and uPVC doors. But with search competition increasing and more buyers researching styles, colours and suppliers online, the business saw an opportunity to strengthen its digital footprint and improve its visibility in organic search.

Beyond increasing rankings for a handful of priority terms, Hurst Doors also wanted to expand its visibility more broadly, grow qualified traffic, and build stronger foundations for brand awareness, enquiries, and long-term search performance.

Green Ginger Digital partnered with Hurst Doors to develop a more strategic organic search approach, one designed to grow topical authority across core product areas, unlock new search opportunities, and help more relevant users find the brand at the point they were actively researching their options.

"Working with Green Ginger has been a genuinely enjoyable experience. From the outset, the team has been clear, proactive, and easy to work with, which has made a real difference day-to-day. Their SEO strategy has delivered exactly what we set out to achieve - stronger visibility of the business and across two of our key product categories. We’ve seen clear improvements in rankings, with our key product categories showing up more often in search and delivering more consistent results. Green Ginger bring a structured approach and a clear understanding of what drives results, and that’s clearly reflected in the outcomes. It’s been a smooth and effective partnership throughout. Many thanks again to you and the team Nick for all the work you’ve done and for getting us to where we are. It’s been appreciated and a pleasure."

- Hayley Barker, Head of Marketing at Hurst Doors

THE
Challenge

Hurst’s core product strength lies in composite and uPVC doors, but there was a clear opportunity to build broader authority across the topics customers were searching for, from period styles and colour trends to local installer intent and inspiration-led research.

To achieve stronger organic growth, the site needed to do more than rely on existing category pages. It needed a content structure that could support visibility across a much broader search landscape, while still staying closely aligned to commercial priorities.

For Hurst, that meant balancing two things. First, building out new landing pages to capture demand around styles, colours and door types. Second, supporting those pages with relevant blog content that would reinforce authority, improve internal relevance and help the brand compete more effectively across adjacent searches.

What they needed help with:

  • Expand organic visibility across key product categories, especially composite and uPVC doors.
  • Build a broader search presence around the themes customers actively research, including styles, colours, glazing, hardware and inspiration.
  • Create a stronger supporting content structure to improve topical authority and brand visibility over time.
  • Develop location-focused content to help users find local installers across the UK.
  • Strengthen the homeowner section of the site while laying the groundwork for future trade-focused growth.

Our
Strategy

We built Hurst’s organic search strategy around topic clusters, using their core product categories as the starting point and expanding outwards into the related themes and queries that mattered most to their audience.

Key elements of our approach included:

  • Creating new landing pages around a wide range of composite door styles, including Victorian style front doors, 1930s front doors, Georgian composite doors, stable doors, designer styles and contemporary options.
  • Building out a dedicated catalogue of colour-led pages to capture wider search demand, covering broad colours such as grey, red, green and yellow, as well as more specific shades such as Anthracite Grey and Chartwell Green, where there was a clear opportunity.
  • Developing supporting content around uPVC doors, with a focus on the areas Hurst could credibly own, including colours, styles, glazing and hardware. As Hurst supplies uPVC door panels rather than the full end product, this required a more selective and commercially grounded approach.
  • Expanding location-based content across the UK to help users find local installers in areas ranging from Bristol and Liverpool to Hull and Newcastle.
  • Strengthening authority around core use cases by building content for front and back doors across both composite and uPVC ranges.
  • Supporting new page creation with blog content designed to reinforce topical relevance and strengthen authority. This included homeowner-focused content around styles, colours, trends and inspiration.
  • Optimising Hurst’s existing YouTube channel in late 2025 with improved thumbnails, richer descriptions and a new channel trailer, helping strengthen the wider content ecosystem around the brand.
  • Evolving the strategy further in 2026 by beginning to build out the Trade section of the website and exploring brand mention opportunities across platforms, including Reddit, Quora and Pinterest.

The
Results

The strategy significantly increased Hurst Doors’ organic visibility and helped the brand establish a much stronger search footprint across its key product areas.

By building a broader and better-connected content ecosystem around styles, colours, locations and supporting editorial themes, Hurst was able to appear more often for the searches that mattered, while attracting more relevant users to the site.

Key outcomes included:

  • Clicks up 49% year on year in the last three months
  • Impressions up 328% year-on-year over the last three months
  • Composite Doors page clicks up 80%
  • uPVC Doors page clicks up 93%
  • Composite Styles impressions up 347%
  • Composite Colours impressions up 405%
  • Blog content impressions up 402%
  • Across the last 12 months, the Hurst website generated almost 5 million impressions and 86,000 clicks

This work has helped Hurst Doors build stronger authority across its most important product categories, improve visibility across a wider range of searches, and create a more robust organic foundation for continued growth.
