Apprenticeships have been an important part of the Green Ginger Digital story since the agency was founded in 2020. To date, we’ve had 5 apprentices on the team, and we are confident there’ll be more. Apprenticeships allow us to hire emerging talent and train them on the job, whilst apprentices receive hands-on learning, a qualification, and, of course, a salary. For those keen to avoid crippling student debt and get into a career right away, apprenticeships can prove to be a real fast-track, and we are big advocates for them.
To mark National Apprenticeship Week 2026, we wanted to spotlight two current apprentices, Nina Delvenne and Holly Denyer, both from our Paid Marketing team. We sat down for a chat about their apprenticeship experience so far (Nina is nearly at the end of hers, Holly is right at the start of her journey!), what they’d advise others considering an apprenticeship, and their favourite moment so far.
Let’s get into it, shall we?
What made you choose an apprenticeship over other routes, and what’s confirmed it was the right move for you?
Nina:
I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do career-wise and didn’t want to rush into university just because it felt like the expected next step. An apprenticeship felt like a better option as it allowed me to earn a qualification while gaining real, hands-on experience. Learning by doing suited me much more than sitting in lectures, and it’s helped me build confidence in a real working environment from day one.
Holly:
I chose an apprenticeship over university because I saw greater value in gaining relevant industry experience than in focusing purely on theory. I didn’t want to risk finishing university without clear career prospects. Working at Green Ginger has confirmed it was the right decision, as I’ve developed practical skills across platforms such as Google Ads and Meta while progressing through my apprenticeship training and working on real client projects.
What’s something you can do now that you genuinely couldn’t when you first started?
Nina:
I’m much more confident working with data now. I can analyse large datasets, understand performance trends, and translate insights into clear actions. When I first started, the numbers felt overwhelming, but now I understand what the data is actually telling me and how it informs decisions.
Holly:
My confidence has grown massively since starting. Before joining Green Ginger, I didn’t know how to set up campaigns at all. Now I can confidently build campaigns, report on their performance, and run search query reports, which I wasn’t aware of before. Interacting with clients has also helped me build confidence and improve my communication.
What’s been your favourite moment or piece of work at Green Ginger Digital so far?
Nina:
Attending the Google Think Retail event in London was a real highlight. It was my first industry event and a great opportunity to learn more about AI, YouTube trends, and omni-channel marketing. It was also really motivating to meet other people working in digital marketing and see the wider industry in action.
Holly:
Building and launching the Half Baguette and Meal Deal campaigns for our client, Pret A Manger, has been my favourite project to date. These were the first campaigns I launched, and I was really proud of that. The process helped me understand key elements such as location and audience targeting, and monitoring performance across regions, audiences, and creatives has been very interesting.
What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned about working in a digital agency environment?
Nina:
I’ve learned how fast-paced and varied agency life is. No two days are the same, and you’re often working across different clients and challenges. That’s helped me develop strong organisation and time-management skills, and it’s kept the work really engaging.
Holly:
Before starting, I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’d never worked in an office environment. I quickly realised how friendly and supportive it is. Everyone is happy to help and share updates, and listening to discussions across different clients has helped me learn so much. I feel settled in the team and always have someone to turn to if I need support.
What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about doing an apprenticeship in digital marketing?
Nina:
I’d definitely encourage them to go for it. If you’re curious about digital marketing, an apprenticeship gives you real experience and helps you work out whether the industry is right for you, all while building a solid foundation for your career.
Holly:
I’d absolutely recommend it. A digital marketing apprenticeship is a great way to get stuck into real processes and gain real-world experience rather than just learning in a theoretical setting. It’s ideal if you enjoy learning but want to apply what you’ve learned immediately in real-life marketing situations.
