New team member alert! We’re delighted to have expanded our team once again, adding a few new faces to the Green Ginger Digital team over the last couple of months. We thought it was high time for another ‘meet the team’ feature, this time featuring one of our new recruit apprentices in the Paid Media team.
Say hello to Louis Sellers! We sat down for a brew and a chat with the latest addition to the team to discover more about him, his role, his journey so far, and what he’s enjoying about being part of the team.
Let’s get into it.
Tell us a bit about your role here at Green Ginger Digital
I work within the Paid Media team at GGD, where I help with analysing data, optimising paid campaigns across multiple platforms, analysing metrics, feed optimisation, budget checks and management, and more. I support on a few client accounts, such as MKM, Calibra, EYG and Madison’s Niche.
My role requires me to communicate with clients, adapt to changes and feedback, and stay up to date with the latest trends and competitors our clients may face to ensure the best results for them.
What does a typical day look like for you?
The first thing I do every morning is check all my clients’ ad accounts to ensure everything is running correctly and performing well. This helps me to understand what I could do to optimise their campaigns for maximum traffic and growth.
My day also consists of a lot of campaign launching and optimising newer campaigns. This includes the copy, which creatives to use, and targeting. The daily tasks are always different. I could be working on Meta all day, or I could be ranging my work across all platforms like Shopify, Google, TikTok, etc.
What was your career journey like before joining the team?
kitchen at a local restaurant. After finishing my A-levels, I stayed there for a couple of months while I figured out what I wanted to do next and which career path felt right for me.
After thinking it through, I decided university wasn’t the best option. I was more drawn to getting started in work and building real, hands-on experience. Around that time, I realised digital marketing could be a great step towards my long-term goals, and that’s when I found Green Ginger Digital’s apprenticeship.
At school and college, I’d always enjoyed both creative subjects and analytical thinking, so digital marketing felt like a really good fit. It offered a balance of both, genuinely interested me, and felt like a useful skill to develop for the future.
What’s your favourite part of the job? And what’s the most challenging?
My favourite part of the job is learning new things and reaching the point where I can do them confidently on my own after a lot of practice. It’s really rewarding and has helped me build my skills. I also enjoy the problem-solving and analytical sides of the role, which keep the work interesting.
The most challenging part is keeping up with how much there is to learn and how fast-paced the industry can be at times. That said, I see that as part of the process, and over time, I know I’ll keep developing, adapt more quickly, and become more confident in different situations.
What would you say is your area of expertise?
I’d say one of the areas I’ve become most confident in so far is creating campaigns for clients and helping with creatives when they’re needed.
As I’ve learned more about different campaign types, I’ve found it easier to understand what’s needed and put things together more confidently. It’s something that has become much more natural over time, and it’s helped me become more efficient in my role.
Do you have any advice for someone wanting to get into your line of work?
My biggest piece of advice would be to stay open-minded and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. Digital marketing is always changing, so being willing to learn, adapt and keep up to date is really important. If you’re just starting out and don’t have much experience, I’d definitely recommend an apprenticeship. It gives you the chance to build your skills, gain hands-on experience and work towards a qualification at the same time.
What’s your favourite tool, app or trick you can’t live without in your work?
Excel is probably the tool I use most in my role. It makes it much easier to organise data, compare results, and clearly understand performance. I use it to create tables, track campaign performance over time and spot trends more easily. It’s also really useful when working with others, as being able to update the same document at the same time helps save time and keeps everything more efficient.
How do you stay sharp and keep learning in your role?
I keep learning by asking questions and taking in as much as I can from the team around me. It really helps to understand not just what we’re doing, but why we’re doing it that way. I also try to stay up to date with any changes across the platforms we use, as well as reading blog posts and updates to build my knowledge and find ways to work more effectively.
What advice do you wish you could give to your younger self when starting in your career?
I’d tell myself not to overthink everything. If something doesn’t go to plan the first time, it doesn’t mean you won’t get there. Keep trying, keep learning and give yourself time to improve. You don’t need to have everything figured out straight away, and it’s okay to find your path at your own pace.
And finally… what do you love most about being part of GGD?
What I love most about being part of GGD is being surrounded by people with so much experience and knowledge, while still feeling really supported as I learn. Everyone is always willing to help, which has made a big difference to my confidence and development. It’s also great to be part of a team where you can see the impact each person makes.
