Meet Georgia Garnett, Client Services Director

Roughly a 4 minutes, 29 seconds read

We’re shining the light on our brilliant people in our new ‘Meet the Team’ interview series, kicking things off with the fantastic Georgia Garnett, our Client Services Director, who has been part of the Green Ginger Digital journey for almost three years.  Georgia brings a wealth of client relations and strategic experience, having launched her digital career in 2011, so she was the go-to choice when co-founders Emily and Nick were looking for the right person to head up Client Services here at GGD.

We caught up with Georgia over a brew to find out more about her role, career so far, the lessons learned along the way, and more.

Without further ado, let’s dive into it… Green Ginger Digital | Georgia Garnett | Client Services Director | Services, SEO & Data Analysis

Tell us a bit about your role here at Green Ginger Digital.

I lead on a range of clients across a variety of different industries such as; beauty and skincare, new home sales, pet food and bespoke baby nursery essentials to name a few, where I am responsible for overarching strategy, performance and account growth working alongside the team to meet and exceed targets for our clients.

This is in addition to supporting the wider client team in the development and completion of their own quarterly client strategic plans, acting as the key point of escalation for all clients, helping with the onboarding of new clients, owning partner relationships with the likes of Google whilst also getting involved in new team recruitment, best practice setting and process creation.

It’s fast-paced and varied, which I enjoy, with lots of autonomy and opportunities to keep learning and evolving my role.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My typical day involves lots of meetings, coffee and Excel!

I tend to start the day with a top-level performance check across our client set to ensure we’re on track against targets.

This is followed by a selection of meetings, including discussions with clients about performance and account growth plans, as well as with the team. We’ll typically discuss progress against the plan, results from recent tests and activations, while also supporting with task prioritisation aligned to their strategic growth plans. Campaign ideation sessions with the team, Google check-ins, and training delivery also make up part of my working week, ensuring that both I and the team remain up to date with the latest releases and continue to grow and learn.

What was your career journey like before joining the team? Any interesting twists or turns?

After graduating from Northumbria University, I entered the working world, which eventually led me into digital. My previous roles included a short stint in prison… (not like that!). I trained inmates as part of a rehabilitation program to help them find a job upon release.

I then spent time as a Senior Client Manager, managing a team that worked on numerous clients across various industries, including, but not limited to, selling luxury sofas, sex toys, garden furniture, and children’s toys.

I was also heavily involved in developing a PPC training plan, which involved onboarding and upskilling over 50 employees in Paid Search marketing. Some of them had never heard of PPC before, and most are still in the industry today, including Emily, my boss, co-founder and owner of GGD.

What’s your favourite part of the job? And what’s the most challenging?

Building relationships, building trust, and seeing growth both within the team and with client accounts.

The most challenging part of my job is probably spinning multiple plates, ensuring service expectations are met while juggling clients in the ever-evolving world of performance marketing.

What would you say is your area of expertise? What do people always come to you for help with?

I would say the team often uses me as a bit of a sounding board, whether as a second pair of eyes to review an email, offering guidance on the most effective way to communicate performance over a call, or suggesting new ideas to add to client strategic roadmaps.

Do you have any advice for someone wanting to get into your line of work?

It’s certainly not an easy ride, but you get to work with some incredible people across a variety of industries, learning something new every day.

What’s a tool, app or trick you can’t live without in your work?

I couldn’t live without an Excel VLOOKUP to help break down and categorise my data, nor could I live without Asana to help me keep not only my workload and priorities on track, but also oversee and support the team with theirs.

How do you stay sharp and keep learning in your role?

LinkedIn is a fantastic resource, as well as remaining up to date with key partner releases, working closely with our Google partners and attending partner events whenever possible.

What advice do you wish you could give to your younger self when starting in your career?

Don’t be scared to ask questions and challenge the norm; this often opens up new doors and opportunities.

And finally… what do you love most about being part of GGD?

Every day is different and the team are so supportive of one another and eager to help.
