Green Ginger Digital is tackling the Big Hike for Cancer Research UK

Roughly a 1 minute, 52 seconds read

The training has started, and the fundraising page has been set up, so we thought we’d also officially announce here on the blog that eight members of the Green Ginger Digital team will be completing the Big Hike this June in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The eagle-eyed readers of this blog (we know you’re out there somewhere!) will note that we recently committed to five charitable acts this year to mark our fifth birthday. Following our donation to Hull Sisters for International Women’s Day, we’re excited to add another charitable initiative to the calendar.

Cancer Research is an important charity to many of the team, as cancer is prevalent in so many of our lives in this modern world. The GGD team wants to raise as much as possible to help this incredible organisation beat cancer, so they’re taking on a 13-mile trek across the Peak District in Derbyshire, tackling woodlands and well-trodden hiker’s paths throughout breathtaking scenery, including waterfalls and limestone cliffs. The challenge can take up to 6 hours, but our 8 trekkers are aiming to get it completed in a faster time, so training is well underway for Emily, Harvey, Billy, Hannah, Oliver, Sam, Nina and Natalia.

The fundraising target for this one is £2,400, and GGD has committed to topping up the amount raised by £600, giving Cancer Research UK a total of £3,000.

Co-founder Emily Falkingham explains:

“This year, Green Ginger turns five, and to mark the milestone, we’re committed to supporting five incredible charities. Cancer Research UK is one of them because, sadly, cancer touches all of our lives at some point. There is still so much vital research needed, and countless individuals and families need support.

2025 has already been a tough year for my family due to the Big C, making this challenge especially personal for me. We’re incredibly grateful to anyone who donates to the GGD Team as we look to take on this challenge.”

Thank you so much to everyone who is giving their time on a weekend to take on this challenge, and to those who have already given us a boost by sponsoring early – we really appreciate the support!
